- Partnership will ease transition from an associate’s to a bachelor’s degree for thousands of military and civilian students
- Articulation agreement guarantees transferability of CTC courses to National University
- Special scholarships for CTC graduates who transfer to a National University online program
San Diego, Calif. & Killeen, Tex. – National University, California’s second-largest, private, nonprofit institution of higher education, and Central Texas College (CTC) have signed an agreement that will ease the transition from a CTC associate’s degree to a bachelor’s degree at National University for thousands of military and civilian students, both schools announced today.
The two institutions formally signed an “articulation agreement,” which guarantees transferability of CTC courses to National University. The agreement will cover students in a variety of degree programs including education, business administration, engineering and technology, and health and human services.
The articulation agreement is especially significant for military students as both institutions serve a substantial enrollment of military personnel. Like CTC, National University has sites at numerous military locations across the country including Camp Pendleton Marine Base, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and San Diego Naval Base. Both schools are members of the Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC). For CTC students, the agreement guarantees those in the military who complete at least 25 percent of their course-work in residence at CTC can continue to work on their degrees at other institutions of higher learning and receive a degree from CTC when all credit requirements have been satisfied. CTC remains the top institution in the world in SOC agreements.
“National University remains committed to serving all lifelong learners, including the brave men and women of our armed forces and their families and our dedicated civilian students as well,” said Patricia Potter, Interim President of National University. “This articulation agreement between National University and Center Texas College is a natural outgrowth of both institutions’ dedication to providing access to higher education.”
“Our articulation signing with National University is another step for us providing top quality educational opportunities for both our military students and non-service students,” said Dr. Jim Anderson, CTC Chancellor. “National University’s affiliation with the military is a perfect complement to our goals in helping military personnel and their families attain a college education. This provides our students one more valuable option to seamlessly transfer CTC credits toward a bachelor’s degree.”
The agreement between the two schools includes numerous benefits for students, including: a provision which includes scholarships to National for CTC students who do not otherwise qualify for National’s military tuition; National’s online undergraduate tuition for active duty military personnel being fully covered by military tuition assistance; full articulation of all CTC courses to National University; and 12 of the most popular degree programs being fully mapped from associate’s degree programs at CTC to bachelor’s degree programs at National University to assist students in developing their educational plan.
